health leadership program

Training and investing in college health leaders.

The Health Leadership Program, powered by PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT, elevates female college students to create active environments for their peers. By providing students with tools and resources, funding, direct assistance, and training, SWEAT MAKES CENTS is helping students get moving and successfully transition into womanhood.

The focus is on cultivating a community of future health leaders on college campuses and online that students trust, setting a high standard we hope others will follow. Students are at the center of program design and activity choices. The curriculum embraces technology and the viral power that will get female students moving more.

During the multi-year program, students have an opportunity to learn graphic design, social media marketing, public relations, event planning, and promotion. We work with active college students from August 1st to April 30th each academic year.

Young women are at a critical juncture in development. As they learn to manage their own health and health care with less parental oversight, they are forming habits that will affect their well-being, learning, and personal and career fulfillment over a lifetime. Health education also impacts future generations. According to the US Department of Labor, women make approximately 80 percent of health care decisions for their families. Our programs educate and activate female students before conception.

Meet our current health leaders at these college campuses nationwide, and keep reading to see how you can make fitness fun on your campus!

How does it feel to be a health leader at your university?

Promoting healthy lifestyles among college women is not only a necessity, but a growing demand on our campus. This circle of safety and comfort while working out has been a movement embraced across Temple University’s campus and the Philadelphia community. Anyone can take a fitness class or go to a health workshop. However, the Sweat Sisterhood offers the experience of consistent team building and personal development beyond fitness. We tackle social issues and provide a safe space to discuss the issues we face as women in college. - Brenda C. (Temple University)

How has PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT helped you grow as a person?

Being a PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT Ambassador with SWEAT MAKES CENTS has not only showed me the power of sisterhood, but it has also taught me how much I have grown in the past couple of years. As a sophomore in college, I started to realize more and more each day about adulthood and all of the responsibilities that come along. This program has taught me how to stay organized and goal oriented, two very important traits to have in the workforce. I have noticed that ever since I became an ambassador, I hold myself more highly as an individual and think of myself as a role model to all young women and by being a role model I have improved my health and fitness habits and focused more on living to be happy and not skinny. - Mackenzie H. (Rutgers University)
